Something for Nothing at Everest Poker

November 23rd, 2010 by Sarah Stewart

It is not often that you can get something for nothing. Everest Poker has “Shasta” and “Sixty” tables. For the beginning players these tournaments are just the ticket. They give you the opportunity to develop your poker skills and to make money with no investment. The “Shasta” tables are 10 player sit and go tournaments with a $.10 prize pool and a $0 buy-in. The “Sixty” tables are a Limit Hold Em sit and go that begins whenever the 20 six-seat tables are filled. This tournament has a $.60 prize pool and a $0 buy-in. You are eligible to enter into the “Shasta” tournaments even before you make your first deposit.

Now you may not think that these prize amounts are a lot of money. They are not but let me tell you why this is such a great deal for players that are trying to develop their poker skills. First of all there is no cost to enter so you can get some tournament poker experience with no investment. The experience that you get from these games is so much more valuable that the kind of experience that you would get from play money games. The reason for this is that even though the prize pool is only $.10 or $.60, players are playing for an opportunity to win real money. In play money poker games, the experience you get is tainted by the fact that the opposing players place no value on the chips. A typical experience in a play money game will be for one or more players to go all in every hand. This does little to help you learn how to deal with real tournament poker action. In “Shasta” and “Sixty” poker there is, at least some, cash reward. This makes players execute strategies similar to real money tournament poker.

So, for a new poker player, this opportunity is without parallel. You get to develop your skills in real circumstances and not only do not have to risk any money but have the opportunity to build up a little stake. Playing in “Shasta” tournaments for a couple of weeks you should have garnered some good experience and will probably have enough real money in your account to buy in to some of the smaller tournaments on Everest Poker. Consider this possible scenario. You are a new player and you spend a couple of weeks learning tournament poker by playing in Everest Poker’s “Shasta” and “Tweed” tournaments. Now that you have some experience and have had some success, you find that you have $2.00 in your account. You take this $2.00 and buy into Step 1 of one of Everest Poker’s tournament step series. With a tremendous run of luck, from this $2.00 that was not even money that you put up, you win a live poker tournament prize package with a value of up to $10,000.

Everest Poker also offers “Tweed” poker tournaments which are Pot Limit Omaha tournaments and “Fuji” poker tournaments which are 10 seat No Limit Hold Em tournaments. Both the “Tweed” and the “Fuji” tournaments have buy in’s as low as $.05. Even experience Hold Em players can get some serious value out of the “Fuji” tournaments because it is an opportunity for them to get some experience in Pot Limit Omaha without very little risk.

Omaha Nights at Everest

November 18th, 2010 by Sarah Stewart

Ever want a break from Hold-Em? Well then go to Everest Poker on Thursday nights because that Everest Poker has just turned Thursday nights into Omaha nights. They are having two Pot Limit Omaha tournaments every Thursday night. At 18:00 GMT there is a $5 + $.50 buy in tournament with a $1,000 guaranteed prize pool. And then at 20:00 GMT there is a $2 + $.20 buy in tournament with a $500 guaranteed prize pool. That means that on Thursday nights at Everest Poker you can play in two Pot Limit Omaha tournaments for less than eight dollars. This is a really great way to learn the game without losing a lot of money. And people who get into Omaha get really into it. And after all, when you start winning all of those World Series of Poker bracelets, you don’t want the general public to think of you as a one dimensional player, do you? Look at the WSOP fifty thousand dollar event that all the pros are saying is the test of a true poker player. It is a mixed game, so you need to sharpen your Omaha skills and there is not a better place to do it than at Everest Poker’s Omaha nights.

Just so that you are not too surprised when you sit down at the Pot Limit Omaha game, you are going to be dealt four hold cards instead of two. No, the game is not broken and there is no mistake. That is the way Omaha is played. Now, unlike Hold-Em, you can not play the board. Don’t worry, neither can the other players at the table. You must use two of your hold cards and three of the community cards. It takes a little bit of adjusting because the values of hands are different. And what you would think was the nuts in Hold-Em might not be in Omaha. But if you are anything like me or most of the players that I know that have tried Omaha, you will end up loving it. No, it does not replace Hold-Em for me but it is a lot of fun and can be quite profitable.

When you get a handle on the game you will be able to take advantage of all of those Hold-Em players that are trying the game out. I like to switch to Omaha if I start running bad in Hold-Em and it usually seems to turn things around for me. I can’t make you a promise on that but I can promise that you will truly enjoy learning the game of Omaha at Everest Poker’s Omaha nights.

And while you are at Everest Poker be sure to try out all of the other great promotions that they have and the fantastic VIP program that lets you get cash back for your play. This means that if you break even for the week you will actually be up because of the cash back you get from the points that you earned in the VIP club.

The 3 Lander Tour

November 15th, 2010 by Sarah Stewart

One of the biggest Poker Sites on the Internet is Everest Poker. Everest Poker has at times been the sole poker related sponsor of the World Series of Poker. And now Everest Poker may be the only Site that gives their players an opportunity to win a seat the next stop on the inaugural 3 Laender Poker Tour, In Vienna. The 3 Laender Poker Tour is a series of poker tournaments that are taking place throughout 2010. The prize packages that you can now win at Everest Poker are for the Grand Finale that is going to be held in Vienna in a little more than twenty three days. The Grand Finale of the inaugural 3 Laender Poker Tour is set to begin on December 8th and to conclude on the 11th.

Since the 3 Laender Poker Tour is running primarily in Germany, the leader board so far consists of mostly European Poker Stars. The top three poker players on the leader board so far are Francesco de Vivo in first place with twenty six points followed by Mathias Kurschner in second place with twenty three points and Tobias von Siebenthal in third place with twenty points. A statement on the Everest Poker Web Site says that the 3 Laender Tour is the first of its kind. The site says that players have a chance “to be a part of poker history and compete in the first casino poker tour hosted in cooperation between an online poker room and casinos in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria”. You can win your seat in this ground breaking event, through Everest Poker tournaments, with a buy in as small as two dollars. The tournament series boast prize winnings of one and a half million euros.

Everest Poker’s sponsored professionals are called Team Everest. Team Everest consists mostly of European Poker Pros like Fabrice Soulier, Valentin Messina, Cristiano Blanco, Kim Wooka, Steven van Zadelhoff, Maria Maceiras, and Catarina Santos. You will not only find these great poker professionals at some of the largest live tournaments but regularly online at Everest Poker. Probably the most famous of the Everest Poker sponsored professionals is Antoine Saout. Most of you will remember Saout from his third place finish at the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event. The twenty five year old Frenchman became the most successful French player ever to participate in the World Series of Poker Main Event. When Saout made it to the Final Table of the Main Event he was considered to be an underdog. Saout made a very credible performance finishing in third place and winning almost $3.5 million. He busted out of the Main Event Final table on a true coin flip kind of hand. Saout held pocket eights against AK and a river King ended his run. This was Saout’s first appearance in a World Series of Poker event and he won his entry to the event through a fifty dollar satellite on Everest Poker. $3.5 million is a pretty good return on a fifty dollar investment.
